Browne Craine is delighted to be celebrating its 65th year in business on the Isle of Man. Having grown organically from a one-man band, Browne Craine now has a team of almost 40 staff with nearly 60% being female. Building a culture they are proud of, Browne Craine strives to promote equal opportunities in the workplace.
With a high calibre of female talent at Browne Craine, it highlights how a diverse culture has developed within the firm and how their female staff are contributing to its success.
A Director at Browne Craine, Lynsey Smith heads up the audit department and is also responsible for staff training within the firm. Covering a range of work, no day is ever the same. A lot of Lynsey’s role involves assisting clients with technical queries, reviewing audit files, attending client meetings, business development and supporting her team.
Lynsey believes that the firm’s diverse culture is directed from the top and is keen to continue to ensure all members of staff can continue their professional development and enhance their professional skills.
As one of two Audit Manager’s, Charlotte Corlett leads a number of audit engagements, ranging from smaller charities through to the firm’s largest group audits. She is incredibly diligent and extremely organised, which ensures a smooth audit experience for all parties involved.
Charlotte specialises in the audit of groups, charities, pensions and investment property and also has a wide knowledge and experience of local government and trading companies.
Charlotte recently qualified as a Certified Internal Auditor and is assisting in the growth of the internal audit service department. Always one for finding her next challenge, Charlotte is currently working towards her ACCA Practicing Certificate and the UK Audit Qualification, which she is on track to obtain in the next month.
Working alongside Charlotte is Lindsay Quayle, her primary role sees her liaising with clients and organising audit work from the start of the audit process to the signing of the accounts.
Lindsay specialises in IOM trust and corporate service provider audit work and she also has experience with client asset reports and UK regulated clients.
As the firm’s Marketing Manager, Kate Parrish heads up the marketing department and oversees all marketing activities. She manages the marketing strategy, ensuring it stays in line with the firm’s wider objectives and vision.
In particular, Kate is responsible for planning and implementing all marketing campaigns, and monitoring the marketing budget. Known for being organised, Kate regularly organises events, her latest achievement being our hugely successful 65th anniversary party. Kate also manages the firm’s on and off Island PR having earlier this year pulled together an international roadshow to South Africa which involved several other leading Isle of Man firms.
Kate has gained a wealth of experience in the financial services industry and has enjoyed working at Browne Craine for the last four years. Until earlier this year, she was on the Isle of Man Business Network committee having played a key role on the committee for the last seven years.
Compliance Officer Jenny Boardman’s role covers reviewing the adequacy of customer due diligence, working with the directors to ensure that the firm establishes and maintains appropriate policies, procedures, systems and controls, and also providing financial crime education, awareness and training to the firm as required. She also acts as the firm’s Deputy Money Laundering Reporting Officer.
Jenny and her team work with a number of the firm’s clients to provide compliance support and assistance when required.
Jenny has completed a Diploma in Compliance and a Diploma in Anti-Money Laundering from the International Compliance Association to increase her knowledge in the compliance field.
Rachael Storey is a Manager in the admin team and is responsible for maintaining the statutory filings and handling company secretarial matters and has become a valuable advisor and a trusted contact for most of our clients. Her ability to use her knowledge and experience to solve problems for clients has proved invaluable on many occasions.
Rachael is Browne Craine’s in-house expert on all matters relating to the maintenance of statutory records for client companies and works closely with the Isle of Man Companies Registry on a regular basis to ensure she is always up to date on the latest developments relevant to our clients.
After a period of studying, Rachael passed the STEP International Trust Management diploma with distinction which provides an understanding of the relevant legislation, principles and practice of trust management both locally and internationally.
A Manager within the accounts department, Alex Catlow monitors and analyses client accounts information and prepares financial statements for a large portfolio of local businesses and individuals. She regularly assists her clients and other staff with accounting and taxation queries.
Alex is also responsible for the planning and direction of the accounts department and oversees the daily operations of the department. She provides support to her team and is also a mentor for some of the members of staff who are currently studying their accountancy exams.
Corporate Accounts Manager Jessica Creer is responsible for overseeing the preparation of management accounts for her clients and also reviews the financial accounts that have been put together by her team. She enjoys supporting the members of staff in her team and works closely with the Board of Directors. Jessica is studying her ACCA qualification and is hoping to qualify in 2020.
