First Golf Day fundraiser for Commonwealth Games Association
The Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association held a corporate golf day on Friday 22nd July at Ramsey Golf Club which was kindly sponsored by Standard Bank. The day attracted businesses from all over the Island, raising over £3,500 for the charity.
“I’d like to thank the all the companies who entered a team for making the day a success,” said Basil Bielich, Vice-President of the Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association. “It was a fantastic day and the weather wasn’t too bad either! A big thank you also goes to Standard Bank for sponsoring the golf day, without their support, we wouldn’t have been able to put on a great event.”
Winners of the overall golf day were Mann Link, with Ed Walter from Wilton winning the longest drive competition, Nick Kelly also from Wilton winning the closest pin competition and the SMP team winning the yellow ball competition.
“Congratulations to Wilton and SMP for winning various prizes at the golf day, and to Mann Link for winning the overall competition; the day was very enjoyable,” said Chris Till, CEO at Standard Bank. “I’d like to wish the Island’s Commonwealth Games Association the best of success in raising the money they need to send our National Team to the 2018 Games.”
The next Commonwealth Games will start on the 4th April 2018 in Australia’s Gold Coast featuring around 6,500 athletes and team officials from more than 70 nations. The Isle of Man Commonwealth Games Association needs to raise over £100,000 to send a team and officials.
